The Great Texas G.I. Joe & Action Figure Expo VII

This past weekend, I attended The Great Texas G.I. Joe & Action Figure Expo VII in Arlington, TX. I drove down for a few reasons. The first being to gather some information on starting the Oklahoma Action Figure Con. The second being buying action figures. Turns out there was a third, that being entering the custom action figure contest. I decided to bring two of my customs to enter.

Turns out I made a great decision.  I ended up winning 2nd Place in the military category with my 3 3/4" Ninja Cobra Commander.

I also won 1st Place in the non-military category with my 3 3/4" The Dread Pirate Roberts from the film The Princess Bride. Yes, the very figure I wrote my first blog post about. I was so anxious about not having one I decided to make my own.

The convention was a great experience. I learned a lot about starting my own convention, met a lot of vendors that I hope to do business with in the future, validated my skills as a customizer and of course came home with a ton of action figures for my collection. Pretty much my ideal weekend. I cannot wait until next year.
